Ed Bell
Development Consultant
Ed Bell is a native of Columbia, South Carolina. He has extensive leadership experience having served in multiple settings and roles throughout the healthcare industry. His experience includes roles as Chief Operating Officer, Chief Administrative Officer, Director, and Manager. His span and scope have ranged from an efficient business unit in a 30,000-employee integrated academic healthcare delivery system to organization-wide accountability in an independent specialty surgical practice with over ten service locations. He has also worked in the financial services industry, leading multi-state benefits service delivery to over 5,000 employees through the corporate office. He has entrepreneurial experience as well, launching and leading two companies.
Ed earned a bachelor’s degree from Clemson University and was honored with the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award. He went on to earn a Master of Health Administration from the University of South Carolina and currently holds an affiliate faculty appointment in the University of South Carolina’s Arnold School of Public Health Department of Health Services Policy and Management. Ed enjoys influencing future healthcare industry leaders through the two primary courses he teaches in the MHA curriculum. Professionally, he maintains four specialty human resource certifications from the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM-SCP) and World at Work (CCP, CBP, GRP). He was recently inducted into the Class of 2024 Marquis Who’s Who as an Honored Listee.
Ed has served on the Clemson University Board of Visitors and the Trion Client Advisory Council. Within his community, he has served through the Columbia Rotary Club, Ronald McDonald House of Columbia Board of Directors, and the New Providence Elementary School Improvement Council. He has held various leadership positions, including board president of Senior Resources and chair of the Richland County Extension Advisory Board. Ed is an active local church member, facilitating a weekly small group.
